White Opflex For Oil Sheen

  25/05/2011
For OPFLEX SOLUTIONS' CEO Scott C. Smith, some things never change. On May 21, 2010 Smith set out to the Gulf Coast after the BP Oil Spill with OPFLEX SOLUTIONS' low carbon impact (LCI), reusable absorbent foam in hand to help clean up the recently polluted waters of the Gulf. Today he is tackling problems closer to home: contamination in the Charles River in Boston, MA with a new product and some well-known partners.

On Saturday, 21st May 2011, which marked the one-year anniversary of the successful deployment of OPFLEX in the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, Smith and OPFLEX SOLUTIONS went into the heart of an oil spill once again, less than ½ mile downstream from the Harvard Business School, Smith's alma mater. This time he went into the ongoing Charles River spill applying what he learned from the Gulf oil disaster with an brand new product. WHITE OPFLEX. WHITE OPFLEX was specifically designed to absorb oil sheen quickly and efficiently while maintaining all LCI (low carbon impact) attributes. The product will be available in Pad and Sweep form only.

In May 2010, Smith made his way into the marshes in Louisiana into the heart of the Gulf oil disaster, demonstrating that OPFLEX® is an effective and reusable absorption product for oil and oil sheen. As a result of its unprecedented performance, in and around Venice, LA, OPFLEX was recognized and purchased by BP as the only absorbent ever to effectively remove and absorb sheen thereby helping to prevent birds and wildlife dying from hypothermia.

Recently on the anniversary of the BP Deepwater Horizon Explosion on 20th April 2011, Scott Smith gave a tribute speech to the eleven men who died in the Deepwater Horizon explosion. It is here that he had the opportunity to meet Rod Lake and Kevin Costner of Blue Planet Water Solutions. Based on that meeting, Blue Planet Water Solutions and OPFLEX Solutions plan to join forces to clean up the world's oil pollution and ensure adequate preparedness for inevitable future oil spills. Rod Lake, CEO of Blue Planet Water Solutions stated, "There is a war between mechanical recovery versus chemical dispersants when it comes to oil spills. We welcome the opportunity to work with Scott Smith and Opflex Solutions to deploy environmentally responsible technologies to clean the world's waterways."

Scott Smith stated, "The technology of Blue Planet's centrifuges and newly designed specialty boats combined with OPFLEX® could be deployed immediately to help clean and restore the Charles River and from the ongoing oil spills. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has the opportunity to work with Opflex and Blue Planet to set the global standards for environmentally responsible technology to remove oil from water." He hopes the Commonwealth of MA will support this cleanup.

On 4th June 2011 Smith will participate in an Environmental Panel and present the story of OPFLEX at Harvard Business School.
