| Honolulu-based Coast Guardsmen have been involved in a pollution response and containment boom deployment training . Effective boom deployment is a key component of pollution response strategy. Coast Guard District 14 and Sector Honolulu service members have exercised and refined their boom deployment skills through classroom instruction and deployment simulations at the following locations: Barbers Point, Sand Island Bridge, and Keehi Lagoon. |

After an oil spill occurred following a pipeline rupture, Triton Industries assisted the response. They used their vacuum technique to skim the oil off the water and to process the pollution.
